Scope and Content

The collection includes Lilley's lecture notes, notebooks, published extracts and both incoming and outgoing correspondence with prominent Catholic Modernists.

Alfred Leslie Lilley (1860-1948).

Arrangement

The collection is arranged in two sequences. Correspondence is arranged alphabetically by correspondent except for correspondence relating to Lilley's biography of Sir Joshua Fitch which comes at the end of the sequence. Miscellaneous papers consisting mainly of manuscripts of lectures and publication by Lilley are arranged in a separate sequence.

The collection is open to all bona fide researchers from higher education institutions in the United Kingdom, and to all others having reasonable need to use them. For specific regulations and opening hours contact the Library. Please note some parts of the collection may be closed, at the discretion of the Keeper of manuscripts, for preservation reasons.

The collection was presented to the University by a private depositor in 1969.
