Administrative / Biographical History
In 1684 Herbert Kennedy was teaching at Edinburgh University, instructing third year students of the Classis Baccalaureorum, or Bachelor Class, who studied chiefly ethics and mathematics. In 1685 he had charge of the fourth year students of Classis Magistrandorum, or Magistrand Class, studying physics and astronomy. In 1687 he had charge of Classis Semi Bejanorum, or the second year Semi Class, studying logic and metaphysics. In 1689 Kennedy was again teaching the Bachelors, as a Regent or Professor of Philosophy. Herbert Kennedy continued teaching at the University until his death in 1698.
