Records of the learning and education activities of the National Army Museum

Records of outreach activities at the NAM including lectures and talks and learning resources.

The National Army Museum was founded by Royal Charter in April 1960, and one of the objects of foundation was for the 'dissemination of information and knowledge bearing on the history and tradition of Our Army'. Learning and outreach activities were not part of the Museum's regular functions until it moved to its new premises in Chelsea in 1971, and today there is an active education programme for both children and adults delivered by the Museum's staff and volunteers.

Records within this sub-fonds have been arranged according to current record functions at the National Army Museum, retaining original series of records and attaching original references where relevant.

All unpublished records of the National Army Museum are closed to external users for 20 years for corporate reasons. Further restrictions may apply for Data Protection Act compliance, typically 75 or 50 years closure for files containing personal data.

Records within this sub-fonds have been transferred to the National Army Museum's Institutional Archive through the Museum's records management processes.
