Administrative / Biographical History
The Association of Writing Assistants was formed during the First World War and initially consisted entirely of women Post Office servants. In 1919 Writing Assistants employed in the Board of Health were also admitted and in 1920, the Association amalgamated with the Civil Service Clerical Association.
