Administrative / Biographical History

Tony James was a lay member of an Australian monastery who became involved in the work of Leonard Cheshire during a trip to the UK in 1985. Inspired particularly by their shared Catholic faith, he undertook a variety of duties of a personal secretarial and research nature for Cheshire over a number of years. Having worked as librarian and archivist at the monastery, he was particularly instrumental in setting up the Leonard Cheshire Archive until his return to Australia in 1992, from where he retained an interest in the work of Leonard Cheshire and Sue Ryder.
