John Kempton of Cambridge, accountant, his wife Elizabeth (1st parties), and their children and sons-in-law Joseph Pointon of Cambridge, potter, and Elizabeth Kaye his wife, Epenetus Smith of 21 Charles St, Hatton Garden, cabinet-maker, and Mary Ann his wife, Thomas Kempton of 14 Bakers Row Coppice Row (sic), Clerkenwell, Middlesex, compositor, Robert Kent Collings of Cambridge, compositor, and his wife Fanny, John Dimock Kempton of 9 Metcalfe Place, Islington, Middlesex, compositor, Robert Richardson of Cambridge, cook, and Rebecca his wife, and William Kempton of 9 Metcalfe Place aforesaid, cabinet-maker (2nd parties) at the request of William Hunt esq of King's College Cambridge (5th party), and William Bell of Cambridge, builder (6th party), and with the consent of William Kaye of 10 Clerks Place, Islington, draper (3rd party), and John Kaye of 17 Crescent St, Euston Square, Middlesex, cabinet-maker (4th party), release Hunt and Bell from payment of a legacy of #300 charged under the will of the late John Kaye on property in the parish of St Giles, Cambridge, which they have purchased. Elizabeth Kempton is the testator's daughter, while 3rd and 4th parties are his grandsons. Six-part indenture, 2 pages, signed and sealed by all parties (Joseph Pointon makes his mark), witnessed by W G Ashton of Cambridge, solicitor, his clerk Ja Jarrold, Frederick Randall of Cambridge, solicitor, and his clerk Alfred Darby, duty stamps. Contemporary endorsement: 'A'. Further endorsed with certificate dated 19 Aug 1845 to the effect of Doc 1914.
