Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
In October 1922 South Place Ethical Society purchased a site in Red Lion Square, Holborn, in order to build a new headquarters, having outgrown its original chapel in Finsbury. In 1925 the Society acquired the freehold of 51 Theobalds Road, in order to provide a second exit from the Red Lion Square building, as required by London County Council. Building work began in February 1928 and Conway Hall was officially opened on 23 September 1929.
