Notebooks of Thomas (Tom) Jones, Trealaw, containing a draft of 'A Glossary of the Welsh of Glamorgan', 1907, with manuscript and typescript additions and corrections, and pasted-in newspaper cuttings, c. 1908 - c. 1936. Submitted for competition, under the pseudonym 'Meurig', at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, Swansea, 1907, the essay was awarded joint first prize, with that of Thomas Christopher Evans ('Cadrawd'). A letter, 1910, from Sir Edward Anwyl has been tipped in on f. iii of MS 23476.

Custodial History
Originally donated to NLW in 1938 by Tom Jones's son Mr W. Rosser Jones, Trealaw, and withdrawn by him soon afterwards. The notebooks were on deposit at the Welsh Folk Museum, Cardiff from 1969 until they were returned to NLW in 1991.
