The will of Edward Basse of Gamlingay, Cambridgeshire. He divides his tenements and land in Gamlingay between his sons Edward, William, and John. His wife Grace receives the 2+ acres, again in Gamlingay, which he bought of Richard Smith. There are small pecuniary bequests to the three sons, and to the poor of the parish, but all his other goods and chattels, together with all his freehold lands, go to his wife Grace for her life. Grace is appointed sole executrix. Copy of probate. With the mark of Edward Basse and copied signatures of George Serle, Henry Mewes (his mark) and Elisabeth Johnson (her mark). Probate granted to Grace Basse in the archdeaconry of Ely, 23 Jan 1638. Wanting pendant seal. Endorsed: 'No 4'.
