A collection of prints produced by the Central Office of Information. The prints measure approximately 165 x 115 mm and have typewritten captions pasted onto the reverse. A sheet of paper with the prints gives the title: 'Progress in the Colonies. Rejected photographs'. This selection appears to be part of a larger series of prints -the captions are often numbered and frequently make references to 'Feature Sets'. The photographs illustrate post-war developments in agriculture, industry, education, housing, etc. in the British colonial dependencies and were presumably produced for publicity purposes. The geographical locations featured in these prints are as follows: 1-15 Malaya, Singapore, Borneo and Sarawak; 16-23 Nigeria; 24-25 Sierra Leone; 26-43 Gold Coast (Ghana); 44-50 Uganda; 51-54 Kenya; 55-56 Tanganyika (Tanzania); 57 Zanzibar; 58-59 Nyasaland (Malawi); 60-61 Northern Rhodesia (Zambia); 62 Basutoland (Lesotho); 63-74 Caribbean; 75-78 Fiji.
