Scope and Content

Bound colour illuminated address presented to Rev Alan Hunter Watts by the members of Holy Trinity Church Council, Bordesley, Birmingham on his resignation as vicar, July 1887. With inset water colour miniatures of the church, vicarage and the Holy Trinity Mission Hall, by E. Morton of Birmingham.

It is signed by the curates; churchwardens; sidesmen; elected congregational representatives; honorary treasurers; and the honorary secretary to the council.

The volume is contained in a hardwood presentation box.

Administrative / Biographical History

Rev Alan Hunter Watts was ordained as deacon in 1876 and priest in 1877. He was curate at Greenwich 1876-1880 and then Bishop Wearmouth 1880-1883 becoming vicar of Holy Trinity Bordesly in 1883 where he stayed until 1887. He subsequently went to Dartford, 1887-1893 and then Lenton (Nottinghamshire), 1893-1917. Source: Crockford's Clerical Directory, 1920.
