Comprises a portrait of Rev. Edward Law (1791-1868), attributed to T. A. Neff (1805-1876) (on permanent exhibition in the Leeds University Library Special Collections gallery), together with photocopies and correspondence deriving from Stanley Jackson's research into it

Administrative / Biographical History

The Reverend Edward Law (1791-1868) was minister of the English Church and Chaplain to the British Embassy at St Petersburg from 1820 to 1864. T. A. Neff studied under Hartmann in Dresden, and was appointed court painter at St Petersburg in 1832.
