Records of Pembrokeshire Community Council and related organisations, 1938-1983, including annual reports, 1947-1975; minutes and agendas, 1939-1974; Dyfed Rural Council annual reports, 1975-1983; minutes of bodies under the auspices of the Council, 1941-1976; circulars, bulletins and other papers of the Pembrokeshire Association of Parish Councils and Dyfed Association of Local Councils, 1938-1981.

Administrative / Biographical History

Pembrokeshire Community Council was created in 1937 and acted as a forum for parish councils in the county. It carried out activities in fields such as music, drama, rural crafts and industries, local history and age concern in Pembrokeshire and also provided a secretariat for local bodies and organizations. The bodies working under its auspices were the Pembrokeshire Association of Parish Councils, the Rural Industries Committee (Cards. And Pembs.), Pembrokeshire Local History Society and the West Wales Tourist Committee. Pembrokeshire Community Council became part of Dyfed Rural Council in 1974.
