The Management Team is responsible for determining policies, priorities and strategies for the Gallery, for forward planning, and for high-level management decisions about core Gallery activities. This includes such areas as exhibitions, permanent displays, building maintenance and improvement, fundraising, publicity, publications, finance, education programmes, collection management, new acquisitions, loans, the NPG's regional partners, the corporate plan, and staffing.
Detailed information and forward planning relating to specific activities (eg. individual exhibitions) can be found in the Minutes of the Gallery committee or group for that particular area.
Management Team Meetings are held fortnightly. They are chaired by the Director and are always minuted. The Minutes may document any or all of the above detailed matters.
The Management Team consists of the Gallery's Director, and the senior management staff. This includes the Chief Curator & Deputy Director, Head of Resources, Head of Finance and Planning, Director of Communications and Development & Deputy Director, period Curators; Head of Archive and Library, Head of Exhibitions and Collections Management, Head of Learning (and Access), and Head of Trading.
This series of records starts in 1993 and includes, for most meetings, the agenda, minutes, and a full set of discussion papers. For some meetings the agenda and papers are incomplete.
