Administrative / Biographical History

Walter Evans & Co Ltd, cotton manufacturers, was incorporated with limited liability in May 1905  in Derby, England, to take over the business of Walter Evans & Co. Its capital was £70,000 and its registered office was at Darley Abbey Mills, Derby, England. In 1908  the company converted to a private company. In April 1943 , many of the shareholders transferred their shares to J & P Coats Ltd, thread manufacturers, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, who then transferred them to Kerr & Co Ltd, cotton manufacturers and selling agents, Paisley, who became the majority shareholder, along with a number of individuals. Walter Evans & Co dissolved sometime in the 2000s.
