    • 189 manuscript letters The letters were formerly bound in three volumes, each of them finely bound with a brown leather spine embossed with gilt lettering appropriate to its contents. The letters have now been extracted from the volumes, conserved, and placed in envelopes in archive boxes.

Scope and Content

Comprises: (1) Correspondence between John Wilson ("Christopher North") and the Rev. John Fleming, with letters to John Wilson from various correspondents, including Robert Morehead, George Jardine, J. Munro, Samuel Gamler, and Charles Parr Burney. 40 letters, 1820-1851; (2) Correspondence between John Wilson ("Christopher North") and Alexander Blair, "Vol.1", 72 letters, 1809-1842, and "Vol.2", 77 letters, 1843-1852. "Vol.1" includes a brief typescript biography of John Wilson
