    • 2 vols, manuscript, typescript, and printed. Both volumes are bound partly in leather and have much marbling on the covers and endpapers with gilt lettering on their spines, as follows: (1) MEREDITH'S MISCELLANIES; (2) GEORGE MEREDITH ADDRESS. PHOTOGRAPHS, CUTTINGS & LETTERS.

Scope and Content

Comprises: Vol.1: Newspaper cuttings comprise obituaries, reviews, reminiscences, interviews with Meredith, plus some printed material by Meredith, such as letters to various newspapers on women's suffrage, marriage, education, censorship amongst other current topics, and some poems, such as "The caging of Ares" and "The crisis"; articles about Meredith included in the volume are by C.L. Chesterton, Sotheby, Nevinson, Watson, Chisholm, Marsh, Clodd, Beiley, Hardman, Harris, Greene, Edgar, Cary, and O'Mahony; Vol.2: Miscellaneous printed and manuscript material collected to celebrate Meredith's 80th birthday on 12th February 1908, including signatures and letters from prominent literary personalities
