Collection of Victorian letters from politicians, artists and architects, churchmen, military men and others, among them Gustave Dore, Cardinal John Henry Newman, Benjamin Disraeli, Sir Frederick Leighton, Lord Macaulay, William Gladstone, Lord Palmerston and Sir Edward Bulwer-Lytton. The material includes letters of condolence, letters accepting or declining invitations, family correspondence and a Memorandum of Agreement for the employment of Helen A. Pottinger as a pupil-teacher by Liverpool Cranmer Wesleyan School, dated 1877.
