The Carmarthenshire County Federation of Women's Institutes was formed in a meeting held in the Guildhall, Carmarthen, on 28 October 1926, with Lady Enid Williams-Drnmmond as the President, and Dr Nora Neilson as County Secretary. The activities and achievements of the Federatio11 are far too numerous to list but notable examples are: The involvement of the County Drama Committee with other organisations in forming the impetus for the establishment of the Cannatthenshire

Community Council. Support for the local and wider community during WWII including seed collections for the County Produce Guild, centres for fruit preservation, garment knitting and support for evacuees. Winning a Prince of Wales Award in 1973 for the Pontffinant picnic site project. Collection of data and information for the BBC Domesday Project in 1986.
