Administrative / Biographical History

Stanley H. Burton was the son of Sir Montague Burton. Having established a profitable clothing business, Sir Montague Burton became a generous benefactor to the University, and was elected a member of Court in 1925 and of Council in 1940. Stanley H. Burton was elected to Council on Sir Montague Burton's death in 1953. He continued to donate generous gifts to the University in the tradition of his father.
