Scope and Content

Collections relating to the dialects of England, to a large extent written (partly in shorthand) by Thomas Hallam, including 79 dialectical notebooks, which are the basis of much of Hallam's work and are notes of dialects taken on the spot.

Thomas Hallam (d 1895) of Manchester was a member of the English Dialect Society.
