Soroptimist International was founded in 1921 in California, USA, as a voluntary organisation of women in business and management, working to improve life for women. It has grown into a worldwide organisation with 95,000 members. Individual clubs, such as the Soroptimist Club of Haverfordwest and District, are grouped into Regions which belong to one of four international Federations, in this case Soroptimist International of Great Britain and Ireland (SIGBI). The Soroptimist Club of Haverfordwest and District (or SI Haverfordwest) was formed in 1962.
