Scope and Content

John Brown, late of Chatteris, yeoman, stands bound to Thomas Smith of Chatteris, 'single man' in the sum of #140, to perform honestly and fully an absolute surrender of a tenement in Chatteris bearing even date, to the use of the said Thomas Smith. Signed and sealed by John Brown, witnessed by Mary Burridge (who makes her mark) and R Seeds, duty stamps. On the verso is a receipt for #70 from Brown to Smith, same date, 'being in full purchase money for the messuage or tenement, lands and premises within mentioned', same witnesses.
