Scope and Content

The Dean and Chapter Ely, in consideration of the surrender of a former lease dated 25 November 1838 made to Robert Clayton of Cambridge and bequeathed by him to the present lessee, let to Robert Page Clayton of Cambridge certain premises in Cambridge for a term of forty years. The lessee may not alienate without written licence. On the back is a receipt for the consideration money signed by the Deputy Treasurer to the Dean and Chapter, Hugh Robert Evans; Witness: Thomas Legge, Clerk to Mr Evans. Part of the seal is attached.
