Administrative / Biographical History

The origins of the Rushden and District Electric Supply Company Limited are not clear but its thirty-third annual general meeting was held in 1945, suggesting a start date of about 1911. The company was closely associated with the Northampton Electric Light and Power Company Limited and the Wellingborough Electric Supply Company Limited. In the 1940s, a number of the same directors sat on the boards of these companies, and meetings were held on the same day at the Northampton firm's offices. The company supplied electricity to Rushden in Northamptonshire and its surrounding area. The company was nationalised with the rest of the electric power industry in 1948 and its activities were taken over by the East Midlands Electricity Board.

Arrangement

The minute books have been sorted chronologically.
