In 1956 the Council of the British Legion for Wales were concerned at a lack of a suitable Book of Remembrance for those of Welsh birth or parentage who gave their lives during the Second World War. A committee was formed in 1958 to launch an appeal and the co-operation of authorities to compile a record of those names.The book was dedicated at Llandaff Cathedral in 1966 and Her Majesty The Queen Mother was present. It was intended that a replica book be deposited in each borough for inspection and that the Anglesey copy would be deposited in the archives.
