Administrative / Biographical History
David Rennie Hardman (1901-1989) was President of the Cambridge Union Society in 1925, a Cambridge Borough and Cambridgeshire County councillor in 1937-46, Labour MP for Darlington and Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Education, in 1945-51, and for nearly 50 years, 1935-84, Secretary of the Sir Ernest Cassel Educational Trust. (See Who was who, 1981-1990.) He lived in Sussex in later life. As a leisure pursuit, he formed this collection of book reviews and journal articles on a wide range of 19th and 20th- century literary subjects.
