Scope and Content

Between [Fraunces] Towers of Wilburton in the Isle of Ely, Cambs., gent. and Haines Barlee of Clovering, Essex, gent. Francis Towers, for a 'competent sum of money' sells to H. Barlee the manor of Wilburton, alias Wilbarton, and everything belonging to it, including such parts as lie in Stretham. Signed by [Frauncis] Towers. Witnesses: John Squire and Willyam Larking. A note on the back in a different hand says that possession was taken on 14 Dec. 1650. This is signed by Richard Baynbridge, Jonathan Lincolne, Willyam Larking, and John Porter, his mark. Another note: 'In docs. Claus Cancellar' is signed by Thomas Edwards.
