Scope and Content

Chorale Directorium, in an elaborate Italian hand in imitation of print, 14 folios. A collection of the prayers, antiphons, etc., sung on festivals and other occasions by the choir of the Ducal Convent at Venice. On fos 2v and 11v a few prayers are added in another hand. Most headings and a prayer on fo. 10 are in Italian. The headings and most initials are in gilt lettering. Other initials are in green. Each page has a rectangular border in gold or green. The lettering of the title-page (fo. 2) is in gilt. On the title-page are the arms of the Soranzo family of Venice: party per fess, azure and or, a bend of one upon the other, surmounted by a coronet. On fo. 3 is a large gilt initial S on a blue ground within a square gilt frame.
