Scope and Content

STATEMENT by Lucy Williams made by request of Holyhead U. D. C. concerning a piece of land situate north of the Roman wall, Holyhead which the U. D. C. was considering buying in order to preserve it as an open space. The land was William Morris's "garden on the rocks", or the Willow Garden, and belonged to the inn Swift Court or Welch's House inherited by William Morris's wife, Jane Hughes. Miss Williams wants the inn turned into a museum and the garden preserved as a recreation area for the benefit of the public.
