Administrative / Biographical History

Professor John Lucas, BA, Ph.D, FRSA (1937-), poet, critic and publisher. John Lucas was educated at Reading University, where he was also a lecturer. At Reading he was an editor and publisher with Reading University Press 1961-64. From 1965-1977 he taught at Nottingham University, where he was a founder of the Byron Press. In 1977 he was appointed Professor of English and Drama at Loughborough University of Technology, where he remained until his retirement in 1996. In 1994 he started the Shoestring Press. Since leaving Loughborough he has been a Research Professor at Nottingham Trent University.
