Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Katharine Jex-Blake was born in 1860. She was a student at Girton College 1879-1883 and a lecturer in Classics at the College 1885-1901. From 1901-1919 she was Director of Studies in Classics and was Mistress of the College 1916-1922. The Jex-Blake Research Fund, from which the Jex-Blake Fellowship is endowed, was inaugurated with a sum presented to Miss Jex-Blake on her retirement in 1922 and given by her towards the endowment of research. She died in 1951.
