Scope and Content

Assumed relative, possibly son, of Gordon Emms Davenport.

Muffin the Mule, Britian's first iconic puppet star, was made by Fred Tickner (1898-1992) who was also one of the great makers of Punch and Judy figures. His style exerted an enormous influence on those who came after. In the 1930s he gave the first performance of Punch and Judy on British television.
