Manuscripts, 1707-[1937], from the library of Richard Bennett of Llanbrynmair and Caersws, much of which is in the hand of Richard Bennett himself. The collection comprises material largely of Montgomeryshire interest and includes parochial records, transcripts from parish registers, extracts from probate records (some of Merionethshire interest) and genealogical records, and extracts from printed works relating to Montgomeryshire.

Richard Bennett, Methodist historian, antiquary and copyist, was born in Llanbrynmair, a farmer's son who received only a basic education. He manifested an early interest in local history, copying out parish registers and researching their information. Later, he would contribute historical articles to periodicals. From 1905 Bennett regularly visited Trefeca College to read and research manuscripts and it was he who copied out the Trefeca letters for publication. Bennett also published several of his own works relating to the history of Calvinistic Methodism in Montgomeryshire.
