The Amalgamated Society of Gilders was formed in 1880 as a result of amalgamation of a few small groups of gilders and was based in London. The National Amalgamated Furnishing Trades Association admitted gilders into their membership in 1911. In 1921 the Amalgamated Society of Gilders became the London Gilders branch 183 of the National Amalgamated Furnishing Trades Association.
