Scope and Content

Account books, dating from 1885 - 1909, containing the names of customers from the Ffestiniog area. Some names appear exactly as they were used in everyday speech, as nicknames.

Administrative / Biographical History

David Hughes, Richard Hughes and Owen Hughes worked as cobblers in Tanygrisiau, Merioneth in the late 19th century and early 20th century. They came originally from Trawsfynydd and were descendents of Owen Prysor and Dewi Fwnwr.
