Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
The British Dextrine Manufacturers' Association was formed in May 1940 at the request of the Ministry of Food, to organise the supply and distribution of the raw materials (tapioca, sago, cassava and other starch producing vegetables) from which dextrine is made. The Association elected a chairman and five regional representatives (2 from London, 2 from Manchester and 1 from Glasgow) who formed an ad hoc executive committee. The Association joined the National Union of Manufacturers, which rendered it some practical assistance.
