Shooting script of screenplay by Nigel Balchin of Howard Spring's (1889-1965) novel 'Fame is the Spur' (published 1940) which was filmed as a Two Cities Film Ltd production by Roy and John Boulting and released in 1947.

Administrative / Biographical History

Nigel Balchin was an English novelist and scriptwriter, born in Wiltshire and educated at Peterhouse, Cambridge. He had a varied career and whilst working for Rowntree's is credited with naming Kit Kat chocolate bars and for introducing the concept of Aero bubbles. He moved to Hollywood to write screenplays in 1955 but returned to England in the early 1960s. He also wrote for Punch magazine and published under the name Mark Spade.
