This collection comprises the records of the Borough of Dagenham and its predecessors, including Dagenham Urban District Council (1926-1965), relating to parks and allotments, drainage, public health, libraries, highways and street lighting, cleansing and salvage, sport, welfare, education, town planning, entertainment, housing, finance and rates.

This collection has been arranged according to the functions of the organisation, as well as chronology, format of material and the needs of users.

Restrictions may apply if material contains the personal details of potentially living individuals. All other records within this collection are open to research and can be viewed at the Barking and Dagenham Archive and Local Studies Centre.
