Scope and Content

Booklet Leicester Borough Arms with Illustrations and Historical Notes, issued to the students of the Leicester Municipal School of Art, 1909. The booklet includes a history and heraldic explanation of Leicester's coat of arms as well as pictorial examples.

Booklet The Arms of the City of Leicester produced by the Leicester School of Arts and Crafts. The booklet comprises reproductions of various interpretations of the Leicester city arms, including the version held by the College of Heralds, an etched bookplate from the School of Arts and Crafts, a certificate heading from the City General Hospital Training School for Nurses, a City of Leicester Public Libraries bookplate, a stained glass window design, a painted panel from the City Trams, a stone carved panel and a seal.

The folder also includes material which may have been gathered as research for the booklet, including a pamphlet An Heraldic Description of the Arms of the City of Leicester which explains the heraldry used in the arms, and various images including a photograph of an alabaster carving and a photograph of the grant of arms held by the College of Heralds.
