Scope and Content

The material consists of: evidence of admission to the use of Edinburgh University Library; dictates, 1639; and, dictates on the Sphera of Sacrobosco, 1643-1644.

Administrative / Biographical History

Alexander Hepburn was the son of the parson of Oldhamstocks. He studied at Edinburgh University. Hepburn was elected as first a Regent of the University in 1625 - Regent of Humanities - then a Professor of Philosophy in 1631. He retired from office in 1644.
