Administrative / Biographical History
Iris and Geoff Harrison were homeschooling pioneers who fought through the courts for the right to educate their four children at home.
Iris was also the founder of the charitable organisation ‘Education Otherwise’ which offers support and advice to home educating families in England and Wales.
The charity takes its name from a clause in the 1944 Education Act, which states: "It shall be the duty of the parent of every child of compulsory school age to cause him to receive efficient full-time education suitable to his age, ability and aptitude, either by full time attendance at school or otherwise."
