Scope and Content

This oral history collection comprises 4 interviews with residents of Leicestershire who have experienced unemployment, conducted between February and June 2015. They focus on interviewees’ experience of unemployment in the city of Leicester since the Second World War and since the significant changes to Leicester’s industrial structure in the 1970s and 1980s.

Administrative / Biographical History

The 'history of coping with unemployment in Leicester’ project was run by Dr Vanessa Beck of the School of Management at the University of Leicester and Colin Hyde, East Midlands Oral History Archive Researcher and Outreach Officer, University of Leicester.
