He also refers to Morland Simpson and the battle of the sites , and encloses 2 poems, A Painter and The Sculptor (both present).

James Pittendrigh Macgillivray (1856 - 1938) was born in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, the eldest son of William Macgillivray, sculptor. He received an honorary LL D from the University of Aberdeen in 1909, and from 1921 was King's Sculptor in Ordinary for Scotland.
