Formed as the Turriff Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association in Feb 1857, which took over the library and merged with the Turriff Mutual Improvement Society under the name of the Turriff Mutual Improvement Association in 1857/1858 [Source: Banffshire Journal 16 Nov 1858 p.6]. The Association was still operating into the 1930s.
