A collection comprising largely of eighteenth and nineteenth century volumes of music, including vocal music, piano and other instrumental arrangements, dance music, etc., some of which are of Italian and Spanish-American origin. Amongst the composers mentioned are Weber, Beethoven, Rossini, Mozart, Verdi and Mendelssohn. Also included is a nineteenth century volume comprising poetry, hymns and transcripts of correspondence.

Lieutenant-Colonel Harry Calvert Williams Verney succeeded to the baronetcy in 1910. In the same year he was elected Liberal MP for Buckinghamshire, a position he held until 1918. He served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture and Fisheries under H. H. Asquith. In 1911 he married Lady Rachel Catherine Bruce (b. 1890), daughter of Sir Victor Alexander Bruce, 13th Earl of Kincardine. Their son, Stephen Edward Verney, was bishop of Repton from 1977 to 1985.
