The collection comprises an album bearing the name 'Leopold' and containing black and white photographs and printed images of scenes in France, Italy and Switzerland. The images depict countryside and urban panoramas, individual buildings, monuments, statues, and architectural details. Some of the printed images were presumably purchased from souvenir shops or have been clipped from published guides of the places concerned. The collection was apparently assembled by Prince Leopold, presumably between the date of Leopold's marriage in 1882 and his death in 1884.
Places featured in these images include: Ile St Honorat, Palais Longchamps, Cannes, Nice, and Menton in France; Monte Carlo in Monaco; San Remo, Pisa, Florence, Fiesole, Bologna, Verona, Venice, Milan and Certosa in Italy; and Lausanne, Vevey, Sion, Fribourg and Berne in Switzerland.
