The Archive comprises records relating to Griffiths' published works including 'The Pre-Calculator Club' and 'Gorilla Times Tables' and also Griffiths' involvement with the Leicester PhotoTalks project.

Administrative / Biographical History

Professor Rose Griffiths is Professor of Education at the University of Leicester and is also a National Teaching Fellow. Rose Griffiths began her career as a secondary school mathematics teacher, and this is also how she started publishing books with the first in 1982. Rose Griffiths studied and received her PhD in the difficulties of teaching children's mathematics and the policy changes that can be done to help. Throughout her career as both a writer and a teacher Rose Griffiths focused on helping low attaining students at home and at school. Alongside writing non-fiction books Rose, also contributed to a DVD series on the topic of child bereavement. In 2003 Rose founded the Letterbox Club, a programme which provided books, number games and other educational materials by post, to children aged 3 to 13 living in foster care. By 2021 there were 12,000 children enrolled in Letterbox Club across the UK.
