Administrative / Biographical History

M. C. Llewellin & Co., Solicitors, were based in Usk, Monmouthshire. The firm collected papers relating to lands in Monmouthshire including manorial, borough and shrievalty records. Manors in Monmouthshire included Tre-grug, Parcletys Llanover, Llanelen, Llan-arth, Goldcliff, Llangattock Coed Morgan, Undy, Caldicot and Newton, Wentsland and Bryngwyn, Llanllowell, Raglan, Trelleck, Usk and Edlogan. The town of Usk, Monmouthshire, was granted its first charter was granted in the 14th century. The borough corporation had the formal title of the Portreeve and Burgesses of Usk. The Kemeys Suspension Bridge was constructed in c.1830 over the River Usk in the parish of Cemais, Monmouthshire.
