Administrative / Biographical History

Emrys Hughes (fl. 1943-1956), of Borth-y-Gest, Ynyscynhaearn, Caernarfonshire, was the son of a ship's captain. He moved to Delph, Lancashire, and worked as a surveyor. Hughes researched the history of ships in the Porthmadog area and compiled a gazetteer of ships. His work was edited by Aled Eames and published as Porthmadog Ships in 1975.
